Brisbane hardcore band Sensaii premiered their latest track Sunday night, entitled ‘Bipolar Bears’. The new single premiered on Wall Of Sound’s website, accompanied by a music video. The band worked closely with Quick Fox Media and Ryan Burt (ex-The Amity Affliction drummer) in putting together this video. The hard work clearly shows in the finished product. I had a chance to speak with bassist Kerry Rowe briefly on Tuesday to discuss the release of the latest video. You can read what we spoke about in the interview that follows.
You can check out the video for ‘Bipolar Bears’ and leave your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page. We’d love to hear what you think of it.
Andrew – Firstly, why don’t we talk about what Sensaii have been up to recently.
Kerry – We recently shot a video for our new single bipolar bears. We’ve been sitting on the track for a while. I mean, the first time we played it was back at the start of the year when we supported Four Year Strong and Knocked Loose at the Triffid so it’s exciting to have it finished and out there for everyone to see and hear.
Andrew – What was it like behind the scenes working on this new video? Who did you work with putting it together?
Kerry – Shooting with Quick Fox Media alongside Ryan was a great experience. We shot it at a great studio on the Gold Coast with rad staff and it was just great vibes. But really, the mood is always big in the Sensaii camp. As you can by the bts video, none of us take ourselves too seriously and are always down for a laugh so it was really good having a professional team to rein us in a bit haha.
Andrew – What was the concept you had in mind when writing this latest song, and the film clip in mind after that?
Kerry – The whole song and video circles the concept of waging a war in your own head. The highs and lows, you know. We’ve all had some really big things happen in our personal lives, for better or for worse, over the last little while and I guess that’s what the song is all about. Those inner battles and the highs and lows associated and directly connected to them.
Andrew – Finally, what’s next for you and the rest of Sensaii?
Kerry – Now that we’ve dropped the single we’re straight back into writing new material. We told ourselves we wanted to release our second full length before the end of the year so we’ll see if that happens, haha. Time just flies when you’re having fun (and getting old I guess…), right? Haha. We’re stoked to have been invited to play Dead of Winter this year and be a part of their two venue set up. I mean like, sh*t, the Tivoli is just gonna be so lit. Have you seen the line up? Ocean Grove and Polaris sharing the same stage as some of our favourite locals too like the Deadlights Boys!? Mental. It’s gonna go hard and so are we. As for what else is on the cards, we’ll only time will tell.
Sensaii play Dead of Winter festival in Brisbane on July 7th joined by Frenzel Rhomb, Polaris, and Ocean Grove just to name a few. You can purchase tickers for Dead of Winter festival HERE.
