Get ready to darken your clothes and strike a violent pose because Gerard Way is coming back with some new music. The former vocalist of My Chemical Romance dropped a major hint on his Instagram page, captioning a photo of a fuzz petal with a cryptic text only reading, “soon.” The news comes in the wake of his announcement that he will be ending his DC Comic imprint, Young Animal, over the summer.
At this point fans are speculating about the idea of a My Chemical Romance reunion. More likely, it could be a follow up album to Gerard Way’s solo album, “Hesitant Alien”. Either way, we’re ready for something fantastic from Gerard.
A Brief History
Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way, drummer Matt Pelissier, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero co-founded My Chemical Romance in 2001. Their debut album “I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love” dropped in 2002 with Eyeball Records. My Chemical Romance switched their label to Reprise Records, who released their second studio album, “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge”. In 2006, My Chemical Romance released “The Black Parade” and was their first and only triple-platinum record. This concept album was a rock opera based on the experiences of a dying cancer patient. It featured iconic tracks ‘Teenagers’, ‘Famous Last Words’, and ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’. The group went on to make one more album before disbanding in March 2013.
A year later, Gerard Way dropped his solo album “Hesitant Alien” with featured track ‘Action Cat.’ He went on to become a co-founder of DC Comics’ Young Animal imprint. Also, he wrote the comic mini-series ‘The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys’ and the comic book ‘The Umbrella Academy’.
