Brisbane’s Awaken I Am took to Facebook last week to announce the departure of long time vocalist Adam Roger Douglas from the band. Both Adam and the remaining members of the band released a combined statement, in which Adam addressed his reasoning behind taking a step down from the vocal role in the band. He began by stating:
“It is with a heavy heart I announce that I have decided to step down from Awaken I am. Several circumstances over the last few months have put me in a negative mindset & a rough place mentally. At this point, I think it’s necessary for me to take the time to focus on my health and be with family rather than be out on the road touring. Please continue to support the boys – Adam”
Awaken I Am took to the stage with Adam one last time on Friday at Brisbane’s Crowbar to celebrate the release of their recent album “Blind Love”, put out through Victory Records on the 29th of September. Supporting them for the night were locals We Set Signals, Kings, and Tired Eyes. This was a great opportunity for fans, friends, and family to celebrate the album release with the band and to wish Adam the best for what comes next for him. Adam was a talented front man and will be missed.
“Blind Love” is out now through Victory Records, and available to pickup online HERE. You can check out the clip for the latest single “Black Dreams” taken from the album below.
The band have reassured fans and friends that this is not it for the band, with their comment on Adam’s departure, explaining:
“Friday will be our last show with Adam. We will still be touring the US next year. Stay tuned for the future”
Awaken I Am haven’t made it clear yet whether they will complete their upcoming American tour with a fill in, or if they have already auditioned and found a new vocalist to fill Adam’s shoes. However, it’s clear there’s still big things in store for Awaken I Am in the future, and it will be exciting to see how they evolve as a band from this point on.
American fans can catch Awaken I Am on their first American tour in February and March next year.
This tour will see Awaken I Am supporting I Set My Friends On Fire celebrating the 10 year anniversary of “You Can’t Spell Slaughter Without Laughter”, and Long Island’s Kissing Candice. Full dates for the tour can be found below, or on Awaken I Am’s Facebook page HERE.
