Local H make surprise return with new single

By

Local H has returned with surprise single ‘Innocents (Edited for television)’ after a week of cryptic Facebook and Instagram posts.

The Chicago duo teased the release last week with a “please stand by” message on their social media before sharing it this past Monday. It’s the band’s first batch of new original material since 2015’s critically acclaimed ‘Hey, Killer’ which finished on top of many people’s Album of the year lists, mine included (for those not familiar with Local H, check that album out).

‘Innocents’ was produced by Failure’s Ken Andrews who has also worked with Paramore, Blink 182, Chris Cornell and Nine Inch Nails. It is unclear at this stage if this is the first single from an as yet unannounced new album or a promo for their upcoming tour with Everclear and Marcy Playground.

The tune is pure Local H with Scott Lucas’ signature scream making an appearance and Ryan Harding’s sledgehammer approach to drumming all over the second half of this track. The first half though is a gradual build with a few time changes and many clever lyrical plays on the title. When it kicks in, it kicks hard.
