Did we just learn of a new Underoath album in 2018? We may have just received our first hint today with the bands latest Instagram post. An announcement that the band would be playing Monster Energy’s Rockville in 2018 but eluding to something more by saying that this is “the first in what will be many announcements about next year”.
Underoath’s Death and Rebirth
Much to their fans dismay on October 2, 2012, Underoath announced via their Twitter account that they would be disbanding in 2013. However the fans were ecstatic in July 2015 when the band began teasing the phrase “rebirth is coming” and an accompanying cryptic video across their social media accounts. The audio portion to the cryptic video, when played backwards, turned out to be the chorus for “It’s Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door” off the band’s 2004 album They’re Only Chasing Safety, and later a countdown timer ending on August 24, 2015 later appeared on the band’s website.
On August 17, 2015, the band’s first show since disbanding in 2013 was announced, headlining the Self Help Fest which was quickly followed by an interview with Alternative Press where Chamberlain and Gillespie confirmed that the band was reforming.
Since then the question on every fans mind was would we see a new album from the Florida veterans. Could this have been our answer? We can’t wait to find out!
